Privacy and terms update

We have revised our Privacy Policy, Terms of Service and Consumer Health Data notice.
- Clarified the information adults enter about athletes, coach authorization and the family claim process. A checkbox or claim code is not proof of guardianship or COPPA verification.
- Separated optional product analytics, crash reporting and adult advertising choices. Updated clients wait for an affirmative choice. Server-side Meta purchase matching is paused.
- Explained league weigh-ins, game-day injury/sickness status and the organizational roles that may see restricted records.
- Reconciled group-content retention with account deletion, clarified school-directed use, and made benchmark contribution permission revocable for future use.
- Allowed authorized professional and organizational use, clarified privacy-request deadlines, removed custom arbitration batching and the one-year claims limit, and clarified that parents must validly accept any agreement.
Correction, September 28, 2026
We corrected the wording of the Privacy Policy Section 3 heading, Sections 16 and 17, and the Sentry and state-privacy lines so they match the rest of the policy and how the app already works: children under 13 may not create or operate their own account (athlete sign-up declines anyone under 13); information about them is entered by a parent, guardian, coach, or program or league staff; a claim code links a record to a family without proving the relationship; and our written information security program is described as it exists. Nothing we collect, use or share changed, the Terms of Service text did not change, and this correction does not restart or change the notice period described below.
Correction, September 29, 2026
We corrected the wording of the Privacy Policy again so it matches how the app works now: we stopped using PostHog for product analytics on September 28, 2026 and have asked PostHog to delete our data (deletion of our PostHog project is scheduled for October 1, 2026; until then PostHog remains contractually limited to providing analytics on our behalf), and product analytics stay optional and are kept in our own database on the same 30-day and 90-day schedule. The policy also describes the age question at sign-up: we ask for a birth month and year, we do not store the month and year given as the answer, an answer under 13 is not stored by us or sent to us, our website's sign-up and waitlist forms are for adults only, and an account already created through Google or Apple sign-in is asked next and closed after an answer under 13. The Consumer Health Data notice received the same PostHog correction. The Terms of Service text did not change, this correction does not reduce any protection, and it does not restart or change the notice period described below.
When this applies
The September 23 version applies to accounts that expressly accept it from publication. For existing accounts, material changes do not take effect until at least 30 days after the required notices: email and in-app for Privacy, and email or in-app for Terms. The prior version remains applicable during that period. Publication of this page alone does not start the Privacy notice period or establish your acceptance.
Stronger technical privacy controls may start immediately. We are not using this update to authorize new uses of previously collected data. Where separate consent is required, notice or continued use is not a substitute. Installed older app versions may not yet contain the updated controls.
You may reject a material arbitration change by emailing support@myathlete.team within 30 days of notice, as the Terms explain. Contact us for privacy requests, an export, or deletion.
