❓ Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add an athlete?

From the Dashboard, tap the "+" button. Enter the athlete's first name, last name, date of birth, biological sex, and primary sport. The app will automatically determine their LTAD developmental stage based on age.

How do I record an assessment?

Go to the Record tab, select an athlete, then choose a sport and assessment. Each assessment includes a "How to Measure" guide. Enter the score and save — it works even offline.

How do growth percentiles work?

My Athlete uses the same CDC LMS method used by pediatricians. Enter height and weight on the Growth tab to see where your athlete falls compared to national averages for their age and sex.

What is Height-Equivalent Age?

Height-Equivalent Age tells you the age at which your child's current height matches the 50th percentile (median). For example, a tall 8-year-old might have a Height-Equivalent Age of 10, meaning they're the height of an average 10-year-old.

Can coaches see my child's data?

Only if you join their team. When you enter a team's join code, the coach gains read access to your athlete's assessment data on that team's roster. Coaches cannot see data for athletes not on their team. You can leave a team at any time from the Teams tab, which immediately ends the coach's access. When a season ends, the coach keeps read-only access limited to that season's records only — never data recorded before or after their season with your athlete.

How does offline mode work?

When you record an assessment or growth measurement without internet, the data saves locally on your device. A purple banner appears showing queued items. When connectivity returns, everything syncs automatically.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → scroll to the bottom → tap "Delete Account". This permanently removes your account and all associated athlete data within 30 days. This action cannot be undone.

How do I export my data?

Go to Settings → tap "📦 Export My Data". This generates a JSON file containing all your profiles, athletes, assessments, growth entries, and team data. You can save or share it via your device's share sheet.

My athlete is 13+ — can they have their own account?

Yes! Athletes 13 and older can create their own account by selecting "Athlete" during registration. They'll receive a claim code that parents can enter to link accounts. Once linked, parents can view the athlete's data from their own dashboard.

Is My Athlete only for serious or elite athletes?

Not at all. My Athlete is built for every young athlete — from a 6-year-old in their first season to a high-schooler chasing a varsity spot. Assessments are matched to your child's age and developmental stage, so the goal is steady personal progress, never comparison to elite benchmarks.

Will tracking put pressure on my child?

It's designed to do the opposite. My Athlete focuses on each child's own growth over time — celebrating personal bests and improvement, not ranking kids against each other. You decide what's recorded and when, and the whole tone is encouragement, not pressure.

Who can see my child's data?

You do. By default, your athlete's data is private to your family account. A coach can only see it if you choose to join their team with a join code — and even then, only the assessment data on that team's roster. We never sell data or use it for advertising, and you can export or delete everything anytime.
